St Patricks day project #2

My second project was to decorate my old cabinet with some green.
1. I went to the google search engine and typed in free st patricks day subway art and found the one i liked best ( there are tons to choose from). I bought a cheap 8x10 frame from the dollar store to put it in.
2. The beautiful flowers my hubby sent me for valentines day had some really neat twigs in them and I loved them so much I saved them because I knew eventually I would think of something to do with them, and I was right I decided to add it to the top of my cabinet and I saw a similar idea for Easter with eggs hung from a branch , so I decided to use a shamrock cookie cutter and some green construction paper and cut out about 6. Then I added some ornament hooks and hung them from the branch ( obviously)
3. The third thing is my wooden shamrock, we cut it about 8 inches wide by 6 tall and added a base so that it would stand up then bought some of the craft paint from Walmart in a clover green and painted. ( for the pattern we just used one of the cardboard shamrocks I had bought at our local dollar tree, they had a package of 12 various sizes for $1)

Thanks for stopping by!

St Patricks day project #1

I've been obsessed with blogging and pinterest over the last few months. Looking at all the DIY projects and easy decorating ideas, I begged my husband and after a little more begging I got him on board ( I needed him for the cutting because I'm no good at a saw, I'd probably loose a few fingers) and we have been crafting every weekend! This is my first blog and the first of my projects I chose to post- I made this decor for my coat rack shelf in my living room.
1.I started with an old window frame ( it already had the distressed look) and cut some chicken wire and stapled it to the back
2.I then took some shamrocks I bought at the dollar store and hung them with ornament hooks
3. I took an old board and cut 5 2x2 sections, painted then green and stenciled on the letters in buttermilk. ( I didn't sand the boards because they were already really smooth but you can)
4. I added some lights and raffia and tada I had my first st patty's day DIY decor thanks to pinterest and other bloggers!

I'm no professional but I'm pretty proud of my first experience with craftiness!
